If you’re going to host your own display, keep these safety tips in mind:
- Check to make sure the fireworks you’re using are legal in your area.
- Have a hose, bucket of water or fire extinguisher handy.
- The person(s) handling fireworks should wear safety glasses.
- Use an extended lighting device.
- Use fireworks only as instructed.
- Never alter or combine fireworks – only light one at a time.
- Don’t try to relight a “dud.” Wait 20 minutes and then soak it in water.
- Don’t ever look into the tube of a firework, or put any part of your body over the top of one.
- Never light fireworks indoors.
