The goal of the Drive Alive Challenge is to meet with all the new teenagers that are added to their parents' auto policies in a one-to-one setting to discuss the real issues that effect their driving and insurability. We want to make them better consumers of insurance products and make them an informed part of their parents' insurance program while keeping them alive on the roadways. At the end of our meeting, we issue a challenge to the teenager to voluntarily enroll in our year-long monitoring program - the Drive Alive Challenge.

Details of the Challenge

A. The Meeting

• Mandatory meeting with at least one parent and the young driver
• Review of the laws, liability/responsibility and the hard facts of reality about driving
• Review statistics that surround teen driving
• Issue the challenge, complete Drive Alive contract

  B. Truth and Trauma Encounter

• Mandatory visitation at the Greene Memorial Trauma Center or local emergency room or trauma center on a Friday evening between 9 p.m. and midnight
• Young driver to write a short essay of their observations and send to the sponsoring agent

  C. The Six Month Review

• Six months from the acceptance of the Drive Alive Challenge, a grade card/checklist will be issued
• MVR information reviewed with the young driver
• Checklist for school advisor to review, sign, and return
• Parents to review, sign, and return to the agency the fully completed checklist/grade card

  D. One Year Evaluation

• Meet with young driver and parent one year from the date of acceptance of challenge
• Review the year, what was learned, the trauma essay, the six month grade card, final MVR and parent's perspective of young driver's progress
• Upon successful completion of the Drive Alive Challenge, a certificate is presented along with a special reward from the agency.
